Previewing the @beyondvangogh and @beyond_monet show at the @oregonconventioncenter. Showcasing two completely different artists. Monet was a family man, lived in a beautiful estate, with the luxury of painting beautiful flowers. Van Gogh on the other hand, was sick and poor, and painted many of his works, including Starry Night, from the asylum he lived in after cutting off his earlobe. Open Oct 29-Jan 5. Tickets for the show are on-sale now at vangoghportland.com - you can purchase tickets to one show or see them both. It’s a really nice way to learn more about these artists. There’s great background info, Each experience uses over 4 trillion content pixels in the multi-dimensional projections, and the experience makes art more accessible and more digestible for those that aren’t able to regularly visit museums. Finally! The wines we purchased while in Bordeaux in September arrived. With the stress of the next 2 weeks, not sure they’ll make it to the wine fridge to properly store for the decade. 🤞We’ll see!

Would you believe that’s 10 pounds of San Marzano tomatoes picked from our garden today? They were magically (and by magically, I mean through 5 hours of cook time) turned into the richest tomato sauce ever, then frozen to be enjoyed this winter.

We decided to take advantage of all the Michelin starred restaurants in Bilbao for our last dinner before we left Spain. Turns out, as much as we were looking forward to it, it was far from our favorite meal and experience on this trip.

Things are winding down on our epic trip through northern Spain and France. Today, we headed back to the coast to soak up a bit more of the seaside, briefly exploring Biarritz and then landing in Saint Jean de Luz for the second to last night. We walked down to the lovely port area, somehow found the least touristy restaurant and enjoyed a mighty fine dinner of mussels and tuna, along with his and hers wine. Photos include a pretty kitty we met along the way.

We spent the day soaking up the history of Saint-Emilion village, how is possible one place can be so incredible? From the 12th century until the present, buildings and cobblestone roads have just been built on top of one another creating this amazing patchwork of medieval and more modern structures (if you could really call them modern). There’s a 12th century church, which is the largest underground church in the world carved from one giant piece of limestone (no pics allowed), absolutely unbelievable. The village is surrounded by and and created out of their notable Grand Cru vineyards and chateaus like Angelus and Cheval Blanc. Eric and I found this town to be absolutely magical. It’s just lost in time, and spending the day there felt like we were lost in time too. We had a bottle of bottle of Pomerol with lunch today, to say it was freaking amazing is not an exaggeration 😍🍷.#saintemilion #bordeaux #frenchwine #travelfrance #redwine #winelover #church #travel #winetravel #vineyards #pomerol

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day for our e-bike tour and chateau lunch in Saint-Émilion. We ended the day with a delicious dinner at L’Envers Du Decor. Wow, what a day! We drove from Spain to France today without even a border check, I guess that’s an EU thing. We were a little early to check into our vineyard chateau (pics coming tomorrow) so we detoured through the city of Bordeaux. Eric was leary of parking, and tired of touristy stuff and shopping, so he chose Le Port De La Lune. Little did we know. 😂😂😂 Well, I got to see my one daily allotted church, I didn’t buy one thing, we saw some gorgeous fountains and old buildings, we dodged the tremendous crowds, and we weirdly ate delicious pizza.When we arrived at the chateau, the owner told us we didn’t have a reservation, that they were full, and that he didn’t speak English. I insisted we did have a reservation. I think he didn’t want us to stay because we were American and didn’t speak French. He finally checked his paperwork and found us and “voila” he spoke English and showed us where to park and showed us around the chateau. Moral of the story: I really need to work on my foreign language skills.
