FEAST Your Eyes on This!
FEAST Portland, the annual food and drink festival that calls for an elastic waistband, an enduring appetite for some of Oregon?s most creative and inspiring food and drink experiences and quick fingers to purchase your tickets before events sell out.
Beginning on September 17th with one of the few not-yet-sold-out events, the Widmer Brothers Sandwich Invitational takes place in Director?s Park from 6-9pm. This is the event?s official kick-off party, so you can expect it to kick ass. Chefs from all over will be challenging your premise of what a sandwich should be, creating new interpretations of classic preparations that conveniently fit in between a couple of pieces of bread. And since no sandwich and no kick-off party would be complete without a tasty beverage, enjoy craft brews from Widmer, wines from Northwest wineries and wildly inventive cocktails.
Unbelievably, I hear a few precious tickets also still remain for the Oregon Bounty Grand Tasting in Pioneer Courthouse Square on Saturday, Sept 19th , from 12-5. Eat and drink your way through the region?s bounty and discover the artisans who keep the Pacific Northwest on the culinary roadmap. Sample the goods from Chef Chris Czarnecki of the Joel Palmer House (Dayton OR), Jessica Hanson of the Kitchen at Middleground Farms (Wilsonville OR), Tamara Huffman of the Baldwin Saloon (The Dalles OR) and Heidi Tunnell of Creswell Bakery (Creswell OR). Devour edibles like pies, ice cream, bagels, artisan cheeses, hand-crafted chocolate and more, while you imbibe from the who?s who of wineries, cideries and breweries. The Grand Tasting showcases food and wine from all over the Northwest, from Amity Oregon, to Zillah Washington, and everything in between.
